Switch72h - After “market booking”
TransReserve Inc., is focusing on the travel booking “after market”, the time between
travel booking and arrival. Research shows that buyers often continue to check prices
after they have made their purchase for confirmation that they made a good purchase
decision. Switch72h.com concept targets this customer impulse, capturing customers
who are willing to switch their reservations to similar, neighbouring hotels at
the last minute (but outside the cancellation penalty window) for significant savings.
How it works:
A customer has booked Hotel Xavier in midtown Manhattan for $400 per night. Three
days (72 hours) before arrival, the customer visits Switch72h to see what nearby
comparable hotels have availability. Using the same proprietary Hotel Management
System in place with BoomBID Last Minute inventory to offer a minimum 40% discount
(40-60% discount off rack rates) on bookings made within 72 hours of check-in. Names
of hotels and discounted rates are transparent to the customer. The customer can
see that Hotel Yaris, which is comparable to Hotel Xavier and located just across
the street, is available for $200 per night, which is 50% less than what he paid
at Hotel Xavier. That’s an uncontested market space.
Ready to switch!
1. Using Switch72h, he selects and holds a room or suite at Hotel Yaris.
2. The reservation at Hotel Yaris is held for 30 minutes.
3. To prove he booked originally at Hotel Xavier for the same dates, he uploads
his booking confirmation details he received from Hotel Xavier.
4. Switch72h’s email system verifies the Hotel Xavier itinerary.
5. Once verified, Switch72h holds the room for two hours and emails the customer
the details of the reservation being held.
6. The customer then cancels his reservation at Hotel Xavier.
7. He completes the Switch72h reservation at Hotel Yaris,
8. Three days later he checks in to Hotel Yaris, thrilled that he’s saving $200
